Daegu FC head coach Choi Won-kwon is determined to win in front of his home fans.
Daegu will host Suwon FC in the 18th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at DGB Daegu Bank Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Daegu’s recent five-match unbeaten streak in the league (three wins and two draws) was halted by a loss at Jeonbuk Hyundai. As of September 9, Daegu is in eighth place in the league (24 points) with six wins, six draws, and five losses. With only six points separating them from second place, the race for mid-table remains tight.
Daegu drew 1-1 with Suwon FC in their first meeting, thanks to Edgar’s equalizer. Edgar has four career goals against Suwon FC. That’s another reason to keep an eye on his toes.
Midfielder Lee Jin-yong is available for this round after missing the first two games due to accumulated cautions. Kim Jin-hyuk, Hong Jeong-woon 안전놀이터, and Cho Jin-woo, the defensive line that kept a clean sheet with their aerial dominance and tenacious defense, will also be looking for a win.
Meanwhile, head coach Choi Won-kwon said through the club, “The mid-table is mixed, but we will try to move up through the Suwon FC game. After this game, we will have an A-match break, so we will not spare our physical strength,” he said. “I believe our strikers will be able to score goals if we block the movements of Suwon FC’s Ras, Lee Seung-woo, and Yoon Bitgaram. We will give a good show to the Daegu fans who came to Daepak.”
Suwon FC suffered an upset loss against league leaders Ulsan in the last round. They are in desperate need of a win as they have dropped to 10th place in the league (18 points). The key player is undoubtedly Yoon Beetgaram. He has scored in his last two games in a row.
Meanwhile, Daegu and Suwon have a combined record of five wins, eight draws, and five losses. The last 10 matches have been evenly matched with three wins, five draws, and two losses.
