Bayern Munich players have mocked Borussia Dortmund players for missing out on the title.
Dortmund played Mainz to a 2-2 draw in the 34th and final round of the 2022-23 German Bundesliga on Sunday at 10:30 p.m. ET at Zignale Iduna Park in Dortmund, Germany. The draw took Dortmund to 71 points, but Bayern Munich’s victory over Cologne ensured that the Bavarians would win the Bundesliga title this season.
Dortmund was in desperate need of a win to secure the title. Especially since Dortmund was in a title race with the Bavarians, who were playing at the same time, and before the game, Dortmund was at the top of the league with 70 points and the Bavarians were second with 68 points.
But Mainz threw cold water on the match. After conceding the opening goal in the 15th minute, Dortmund went into halftime down 0-2, with Lee Jae-Sung striking in the 24th minute.
Dortmund battled back in the second half, with Hafael Geheiro scoring in the 23rd minute and Niklas Zuerle equalizing in stoppage time. However, the match ended 2-2, with Munich beating Cologne at the same time to draw level with Dortmund on 71 points, but winning the title on goal difference.
For Dortmund, it was a draw through and through. It was Dortmund’s first title in 11 years. Dortmund last won the Bundesliga in 2011-12 스포츠토토 and had been crowned champions by Munich for 10 consecutive years. This season, however, they held the lead until the final game of the season and looked like they were going to win their first league title in 11 years.
After the title was clinched, a video of the Munich players in the locker room went viral. After their 2-1 win over Cologne, the Bavarians celebrated in the locker room as soon as they learned that Dortmund had tied. In the video, Munich players repeated the lyrics “Dortmund, who is the German champion?” over and over again.
Among the players mocking Dortmund were Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka, both of whom play for Dortmund’s rivals Schalke 04. It’s an awkward scene for Dortmund.
