In ‘strong rain’ conditions… Woo Sang-hyuk fails in all three attempts at 2.16m

Woo Sang-hyuk (27-Yongin City Hall) ended his Stockholm Diamond League campaign without setting a record in the conditions created by “strong rain”.

Woo Sang-hyuk made three attempts to clear 2.16 meters during the men’s high jump at the World Athletics Stockholm Diamond League 2023 at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium in Stockholm, Sweden, on Wednesday (July 3).

The stadium was experiencing heavy rain on the day and the men’s high jump competition was interrupted several times.

The competition started at 2.08 meters, and Woo passed 2.08 and 2.12 before making his first attempt at 2.16.

Woo, who was the last of the nine athletes to start the competition, failed his first three attempts.

It was Woo’s “first test of the 2023 outdoor season.

Woo had cruised through this year’s outdoor season with a second-place finish at the Doha Diamond League on May 6 (2.27m), a win at the KBS Cup in Yecheon on May 9 (2.32m), which doubled as a qualifier for the Hangzhou Asian Games, a win at the Yokohama Golden Grand Prix on May 21 (2.29m), a second-place finish at the Rome-Pirenze 먹튀검증 Diamond League on June 3 (2.30m), and a first-place finish at the Jeongseon National Athletics Championships on June 25 (2.33m).

She is also the world’s top-ranked athlete in ranking points (1,376) and tied for first in the 2023 season record (2.33m).

At the Stockholm Diamond League, however, she failed to clear the bar even once.

In the Diamond League high jump, if you don’t make a single attempt, you don’t get ranked.

After failing to clear the bar in Stockholm, Woo failed to earn any Diamond League points.

The Diamond League awards 1-8 points to the first through eighth place finishers in individual events.

The top six finishers in the men’s high jump will compete at the Final Series in Eugene, Oregon, USA, on September 17-18 to determine the 2023 Diamond League champion.

Woo, who earned 14 Diamond League points with back-to-back second-place finishes in Doha and Rome-Firenze, missed out on the opportunity to leapfrog Jubon Harrison (16 points-USA), who missed the competition to prepare for the U.S. National Team Trials.

Woo is second in the 2023 Diamond League points standings. He still has a chance to qualify for the Diamond League Final Series.

After a disappointing finish to the Stockholm Diamond League, Woo will now prepare for the 2023 Asian Championships, which kicks off on July 12 in Thailand.

Other athletes also underperformed due to the bad weather.

Jean-Marco Tamberi (31-Italy), the 2021 Tokyo 2020 co-gold medalist, was sixth at 2.12m.

Hamish Kerr (26-NZ) won the day with a clearance of 2.24m.

Thomas Carmoy (23-Belgium) was second at 2.20 and Andriy Prochenko (35-Ukraine) was third at 2.16.

Melwyn Ricke-Holm (18-Sweden), the son of 메이저놀이터 추천 Athens 2004 men’s high jump gold medalist and Woo’s “role model” Stefan Holm (47), finished seventh in his first Diamond League appearance at 2.08m.

Ricke-Holm’s mother is Anna Ricke (Korean name Kim Sun-ah), who was born in South Korea in 1973 and adopted by Sweden.

Her father, Stefan Holm, who watched his son compete from the stands, let out a sigh of disappointment when Ricke-Holm failed to clear 2.16 meters.
