‘Extra-time nightmare’ continues for Daegu, Incheon… ‘Through goals’ in 4 of last 5 games

The extra-time nightmare has struck again.

Daegu FC drew 2-2 with Incheon United in the 15th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at DGB Daegu Bank Park on April 27. Daegu continued its four-match unbeaten streak (two wins and two draws) and sits in sixth place with five wins, six draws and four losses (21 points).

Daegu conceded a goal in the first half. In the 31st minute, Hernandez broke through inside the penalty box and found Kim Bo-seop behind him. Kim then passed to Shin Shin-ho, whose precise shot from the front of the penalty box went through the hands of Choi Young and into the net. Daegu ended the first half trailing 0-1.

In the second half, we turned the tables. First, in the sixth minute of the second half, Sejingya played a long corner kick and Edgar won the contest and sent in a header. The ball hit the crossbar and went in for a goal. Once again, Edgar’s brilliance shone through. In the 11th minute of the second half, Hwang Jae-won sent a high ball into the box, and Edgar rushed in and rattled the net with a header.

Daegu’s lead lasted until the 45th minute. A win would have given Daegu their third straight victory after a 2-0 win over Gwangju FC and a 1-0 win over Daejeon Hana Citizens.

However, they couldn’t hold on to the lead. In the second minute of second-half stoppage time, the ball was played high into the penalty box 스포츠토토 and Kim Dae-jung sent a backheader pass. Kim Do-hyuk followed it, took possession, and played a backheel pass that Hong Si-hoo slotted home.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Daegu’s ‘extra-time jinx’ against Incheon continued. It started in April last year. In the eighth round of the K League 1 at home, Daegu dedicated a penalty kick (PK) in the second half of extra time. Mugosa was the kicker, and Incheon won 2-1.

Then, in May 2022, in the 13th round of the K League 1, against Incheon, the PK was awarded in extra time. Mugosa converted, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Then, in August 2022, in the 27th round of the K League 1 at DGB Daegu Bank Park, they conceded a goal to Kim Do-hyuk from a corner kick in stoppage time. The result was a 2-3 defeat.

It continued in 2023. After five rounds of 0-0 draws, the nightmare was reawakened in the 15th round.
