Corbin Burns rejects WBC U.S. team offer “Focus on the season”

2021 Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burns (29, Milwaukee Brewers) rejected an offer to join the US national team at the 5th World Baseball Classic (WBC).

According to the media, Burns said, “Preparation for the season is the top priority. He is making sure he can play the opener so that he can play the full season without injury.”

Burns won the Cy Young Award in 2021 with a good record of 11-5 and an ERA of 2.43. Last year, he started 33 games, the most for a person, and recorded a 12-8 record with a 2.94 earned run average, striking out 243 and ranking 7th in the video poll.

He will be eligible for free agency after only two more seasons.

He was dissatisfied with the club’s proposed amount this year and applied for an annual salary adjustment. Burns’ hope is $10.75 million, and the club’s offer is $10.01 million.
