Shohei Otani (LA Angels) proved his worth 먹튀검증 perfectly in a day. He added several unusual records in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB).
Otani achieved his first shutout in the big league in the first game of the 2023 MLB Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan, on the 28th (Korea Standard Time). In nine innings, he led the team to a 6-0 victory with one hit, three walks and eight strikeouts, marking his ninth win of the season.
Ohtani allowed his first on-base hit of the day after hitting a heavy hit by the leadoff hitter Kere Carpenter in the fifth inning. He threw a total of 111 balls (71 strikes) and was in charge of the game from start to finish.
In the second game, which was held after a 45-minute break, he hit consecutive home runs. Ohtani, who started as the second designated hitter, pushed the opponent starter Matt Manning’s seven-ball 152-kilometer four-seam fastball in the top of the second inning with two outs and a runner on first base with a 3-0 lead to a two-run home run over the left fence. This is his 37th home run of the season.
Even after two outs in the top of the fourth inning with a 6-2 lead, Manning’s four-seam fastball (153 kilometers per hour) hit the center fence. It is a 138-meter-long home run. It is the fourth time this season that Otani has hit more than two home runs in one game.
According to MLB Dotcom, Otani is the second time since 1900 that he has recorded a shutout of less than one hit and two home runs on the same day. It was achieved first by Rick Wise in 1971.
However, Otani is the first to shut down in one game and hit a home run in the other while playing a doubleheader.
Since 1900, only two players, Babe Ruth (1918) and Otani, have been starting as hitters in one doubleheader game with a shutout.
Otani became the pitcher who hit the most home runs in a season among all-time shutout pitchers. The previous record was Ruth’s 11 home runs in 1918.
